From application to management, we find the right scheme for your farm
Is your current agreement ending soon? Not in a scheme yet? Preparing for SFI & ELMS? We can help you consider your options and complete your application and claim forms. We have a great track record of successful agri-environment applications. If you have a large or complicated ELS or HLS agreement we can help by supervising the annual management requirements and capital works. We also advise on cross compliance.
FWAG East Membership
Join our growing community of like-minded farmers for free advice & more
Through our membership we aim to grow a network of farmers who share our passion for farming and conservation. Our members benefit from free, year-round telephone advice from our team of experts. They hear about any new grants and schemes as soon as we do and they use our events and newsletters to gain a deeper understanding of the natural world. Ultimately our members help to spread the FWAG ethos further afield.
Farmer Engagement & Project Delivery
We engage farmers in environmental & habitat improvement projects
We engage farmers in a variety of projects which help our partners achieve their environmental aims and objectives. For example, we work with water companies and farmers on catchment-based projects exploring the full potential of cover crops in improving water quality. We are also delivering habitat ponds on farms for Natural England's District Level Licencing scheme.
Farm Ecology Management & Habitat Surveys
Our passionate team of independent advisers are experts in their field
We can arrange surveys for habitats and species, including SFI hedgerow assessments and IPM plans, Biodiversity Net Gain baseline surveys and farm carbon audits. We also undertake ecological appraisals for a range of planning applications including solar farm developments. If you simply want some straightforward advice, for example on how to manage your pond, where to create hedgerows or woodland or how to establish a wildflower meadow, then we can make a quick visit to discuss this with you.
Landscape Partnerships & Nature Recovery Projects
From cluster groups to landscape-scale solutions, we find the best fit
As farmers and ecologists we understand conservation approaches need to be joined-up to have impact at a landscape scale. We are experienced in convening stewardship cluster groups for agri-environment schemes. We also work with groups of farmers in partnership in particular landscapes or catchments to ensure conservation impact extends well beyond the farm.
Farm Training & Events
We bring industry experts together to share their knowledge
Each year FWAG East holds a number of informative local workshops, talks and farm walks for farmers and land managers with topics ranging from resource protection to establishing successful conservation measures. At the events, our advisers are readily available to chat one-to-one and offer advice. And there’s usually some welcome refreshment on offer to boot!
We can help you make the change
Keen to try regenerative farming but unsure it will work on your farm or soils? To transition to a regenerative system it's recommended that you evolve your system over time rather than jumping straight in. To do this you’ll need good advice and support from independent advisors. FWAG East has expert in-house advisors and access to leading scientists, agronomists and regen farmers who can help steer you through the change to a more regenerative system. We can also direct you to the latest sources of public and private funding to make your move into agro-ecology financially viable for your farm.
Environmental Assurance Schemes
From LEAF to Supermarket Assurance, we design, audit and manage schemes
We can produce a “common sense”, whole farm, map-based Environmental Plan for your farm which makes the most of your environmental assets. These reports can be tailored to meet the requirements of LEAF Marque, Nature’s Choice and other assurance and retailer schemes. Does your LEAF Marque need updating? We can do the annual reviews and complete the five-year reviews as required by LEAF.
