Jewel of the Fens - Guided Walk at Chippenham Fen
Accompany FWAG East on a privileged insight into the fenland gem that is Chippenham Fen National Nature Reserve, Cambs. This 250 acre, internationally important site is one of a handful of remnant fens making up the Fenland Special Area of Conservation. Sausages, burgers and refreshments included.

About the event
Natural England’s Site Managers will take us off the public access routes to explore the species-rich fen meadows, sedge beds, reedbeds, chalk springs and woodland. We are likely to see some of the site’s specialities, Cambridge Milk-parsley, an assemblage of orchids and perhaps the day-flying, Silver-barred moth. Learn about the careful regime of cutting and grazing (including by the site’s water buffalo) that keep the fen in tip top condition.
