Shaping the Future: FWAG Members in Conversation with Janet Hughes
Friday 9th April at 11.35am - 12.30pm
Janet Hughes is the Programme Director for the Future Farming and Countryside Programme (FFCP). This programme will transform the way agriculture and the countryside environment are supported and regulated.
2021 is the year of details and delivery for the future farming programme as Defra work to implement the Agricultural Transition Plan.
FWAG and its members are already involved in helping to shape the future of Environmental Land Management and this is a fantastic opportunity for FWAG members to engage with the head of the programme. Collaboration (or co-design as they are calling it) really matters to Janet as Defra want everyone affected by their decision making to shape future policy.
This is an online question and answer event open to our members. Please join us and help Defra build a scheme for all those managing the land. FWAG East members wishing to register should contact emily.stacey@fwageast.org.uk or call her on: 07854 323349. Find out more about becoming a member of FWAG East here.

Cover Crop Technical Workshop - A Whole Farm Approach with George Young
Brought to you by FWAG East, Kings and Affinity Water
Thursday 25th Feb 2021, 10.30am -11.45am
George Young farms a 485ha mixed farm in south Essex. When first returning to the family farm, the system was fairly conventional, including cattle grazing the permanent grassland. Since 2013 George has moved to an integrated farming approach which incorporates nature into the farming system. The farm is now zero tillage and zero insecticide with cattle and herbal leys integrated into the system, along with large scale habitat creation and agroforestry. George is passionate about growing food with ecology at the heart of his decision making. Come to hear him share his thoughts and ideas. View the full invitation here.
